<p>Subiect: <strong>Relaxation of upper age limit to meritorious sportsperson recruited under Sports Quota &#8211; clarification.</strong></p>



<p>Sir.<br />I am directed to refer to the subject mentioned above and DoP&amp;T OM No. 14034/01/2013-Estt (D) dated 03.10.2013 regarding instructions issued for providing incentives to sportspersons. In this connection, vide letter number 17-07/2017-SPN-I dated 24.08.2021, clarifications were issued regarding recruitment of meritorious sportspersons. Sl.No. (i) of Para 2 of the said letter states that age relaxation in case of candidates belonging to OBCs shall be applicable as per DoP&amp;T OM No. 43013/2/95 -Estt (SCT) dated 25.01.1995.</p>



<p>The matter was examined in detail and it was decided by the Competent Authority to obtain the advice of DoP&amp;T in the matter. DoP&amp;T has advised as under:-</p>



<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<p>&#8220;It was already clarified vide I.D. Note dated 18.10.2022 that all categories of candidates applying for the post in Group&#8217;C&#8217; earmarked to be filled by meritorious sportsperson, in terms of DoP&amp;T&#8217;s guidelines dated 03.10,2013, are eligible for age relaxation of upto 5 years and that d the candidate happens to belong to SC/SR category, the age relaxation allowed is upto 10 years. It is further stated that no additional age relaxation is allowed to such candidate.&#8221;</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list" start="3">
<li>In view of above, relaxation in upper age limit upto a maximum of 5 years is allowed to Meritorious Sportspersons for the purpose of appointment to post in Group &#8216;c&#8217; and additional age relaxation is allowed only to candidates belonging to SC/ST category. Accordingly, 10 years of age relaxation is allowed to candidates of SC/ST only.</li>



<li>Sl.No. (i) of Para2 of letter 17-07/2017-SPNJ dated 24.08.2021 stands annulled. Past cases already decided as per the aforesaid letter dated 24.08.2021 shall not be reopened.</li>

<h2 class="has-text-align-center wp-block-heading"><strong>INDIAN ARMY</strong></h2>



<ol class="wp-block-list"><li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Direct Entry Naib Subedar / Equivalent: </span></strong>The recruitment is made to the extent of 2% of vacancies occurring in the rank of Naib Subedar / equivalent every year and is limited to a maximum of 50 vacancies every year for the Indian Army.</li></ol>

<ol class="wp-block-list" start="3"><li>Recruitment through Arm\y Recruiting Offices (AROs). Sportsmen can attend a recruitment rally of concerned ARO as a normal candidate. Sportsmen are given bonus marks commensurate to level of participation.</li><li>Recruitment in Open Category under Unit Headquarters Quota(UHQ). To extent of maximum 20% of Soldier Category (General Duty) and Soldier Category (Technical) vacancies allotted to Regimental Centres under UHQ.</li></ol>

<strong>Recruitment against Sports Quota on the basis of medal winning position in All India Inter University Championships only through Open Advertisement Quota.</strong><br />
Board&#8217;s letter no. (i) 2010/E (Sports)/4(1)/1 (policy) dated 31-12-2010 (RBE No: 189B/2010) and clarifications/ corrigendum issued thereto.</p>
<p>(ii) 2012/E(Sports)/4(1)/1/Policy Clarification dated 18.04.2012 (RBE No.52/2012).<br />
During the Presidents Secretaries Meeting (PSM) of Railway Sports Promotion Board, held at Rail Bhawan on 18.05.2015, it was decided to stop recruitment of sports persons against sports quota through Talent Scouting, on the basis of medal winning position in All India Inter University Championships, as per Board&#8217;s policy letters mentioned above- The proposal has accordingly been considered and approved by Railway Board.<br />
2. It is, accordingly, advised that for all future recruitment (from the year 201-16 onwards) in Grade Pay Rs. 1900/2000 in scale Rs.1900/2000 in scale Rs.5,200-20,200 (PB-I) against sports quota on the basis of medal winning performance (at least 3rd position) in All India Inter University Championships may only be considered for recruitment against Open Advertisement Quota. However, in such cases where trials have already been conducted for recruitment through Talent Scouting, before the date of issue of this letter, the some may be finalized as Per Policy.</p>
