Revising Retirement age does not come under the purview of 7th Pay Commission.

Recently the news about retirement age is blown out of proportion in Social Media. In Social Media it has been signaled casually that the retirement age will be brought down to 58 years. Initially it was said that 7th pay commission going to recommend the criteria for retirement age as either 33 years of Service or 60 Years of age whichever comes first.

And gradually it is reduced to 58years of age or 33 years of service and finally ends up with 30 years of service or at the age of 55 years.

7th pay commission Vs Retirement Age

Does it worth to believe the news circulated in social media about 7th pay commission recommendation and retirement age..? We asked the Federation sources about this and they want to maintain anonymity told that it depends upon the individuals to decide whether it is true or not. We should not blame the media for everything. We should be able to know the difference between the news and rumors.

One of our Sources told that revising the retirement age will not fall under the purview of Pay commission. It should be decided by central government only. No Pay commission has recommended anything about Retirement age so far.
Federation Leaders were asked about this retirement age issue, when it became sensational in Print and e-Media, why don’t they come forward to clear the doubts on this sensational issue?. They told that they didn’t want do give importance to the rumors and hear says.

They said, “We need to clarify the doubts of our cadres across the country whenever it was rumored in social media about their service related sensational issues. But when sensational becomes routine, it’s not our business to respond to such hearsays on daily basis”

“As far as retirement age is concerned we know that 7th pay commission cannot recommend revising the retirement age of central government employees, since it does not fall under the purview of 7th Pay Commission. Even we won’t accept it if the central government tries to reduce the retirement age,” the sources added.

7th Central Pay Commission – Regularisation of Retirement Age?

As the recommendation and implementation of the 7th Central Pay Commission is eagerly awaited by the central government employees, some points in the recommendations are slightly leaking in..It may not be authentically correct.

According to information from various sources, the Pay Commission may fix the minimum basic pay at Rs. 15000/- and it is assumed that a huge increase in the salaries of the employees cannot be expected. The term of the commission was extended for four months and they are in full swing giving final touches to the report to be submitted to the central government by the end of December 2015.

One more recommendation which is said to be an important one, is the regularisation of retirement age for the Central Government Employees. The Commission may recommend that an employee should retire after completing 33 years of service or at the age of 60 whichever comes first. For instance, if an employee joins a central government establishment at the age of 23, his retirement age will be 56. If this recommendation is true, it will definitely create panic among the employees and it will not be a wise decision by the pay commission. All Federations and Associations will strongly oppose these type of recommendations…

The 6th CPC had brought various changes in the Pay Structures and introduced Grade Pay. There was a moderate increase in the Basic Pay, House Rent Allowance and re-imbursement of tuition fees was also introduced. The minimum basic pay was Rs.5200+Grade Pay 1800=Rs. 7000/- while it was Rs. 2650/- in the 5th CPC.

Further, it is also said that, the 7th CPC may abolish the 6th CPC’s Pay Scales and may bring back the old pay scales. The overall increase in the Pay Scale will be around 15% to 20%…

Let us wait and see for the ultimate results…!

Seeking Merger of DA and Oppose reduce the Retirement age – DPCC

Maken to sit on dharna

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken along with a large number of party workers will sit on a daylong dharna tomorrow at Jantar Mantar seeking merger of Dearness Allowance (DA) with basic pay and also to oppose the move by the BJP-led Central Government to lower the retirement age of government employees.

DPCC chief spokesperson Sharmistha Mukherjee said party workers, government employees, teachers, pensioners and others will join Maken in the dharna to press their demand for merger of DA with basic pay and also to oppose the move to lower the retirement age of government employees.

Addressing a press conference, Mukherjee said the Congress would be seeking the merger of 100 per cent DA with basic pay, which is 113 per cent as on January 1, 2015. The Congress-led UPA II government was to take a decision on merger of DA with basic pay, but due to the announcement of the general elections, it had to be deferred.

Hike in Retirement age of Kerala State Employees – 10th Pay Revision Commission may recommend to hike to 58 years

According to recent reports published in the ‘Manoramaonline’, the 10th Kerala Pay Revision Commission expected to recommend to hike in retirement age for Kerala State Govt employees by two years from 56 to 58.

Kerala may raise retirement age to 58

“Thiruvananthapuram: Increasing the retirement age for Kerala government employees by two years to 58 may be one of the recommendations of the 10th Kerala Pay Revision Commission. The commission, led by Justice C.N. Ramachandran Nair, will submit its report on July 10.

The commission is expected to recommend the increase of retirement age to balance the extra burden on the treasury due to a pay rise across the board. The report recommends a minimum salary of Rs 16,000 and a maximum salary of Rs 1 lakh for employees.

The youth wings of all political parties are against increasing the retirement age in the government service. Even the United Democratic Front government’s policies do not favour later retirement. The retirement age was raised to 56 from 55 during the previous Left Democratic Front rule.

Other recommendations include lowering the minimum eligibility for full pension to 25 years in service from the present 30. Full pension is equivalent to half of the basic pay. The report would also have recommendations intended to raise the efficiency of the employees along with their pay scale.”

2014 was a year of expectations, disappointments, and trials and tribulations for Central Government Employees and Pensioners too.

About Central Government Employees at a glance 2014 – This article brings you some important events and announcements…

Strike: The year began with a collective decision of all employees federations to go on a strike demanding, among other things, 50% DA merger, and date of effect of the 7th CPC. When it became clear that there was going to be a change of government at the Centre, the federations began to plan their moves in order to somehow convince the Congress Government to accept their demands. At last, the Confederation alone held protests on February 10 and 11. Other federations announced that they want to resolve the issue by holding talks and withdrew their strike plans. But the Central Government remained unmoved.

Retirement Age: A huge rumour started that in a desperate attempt to secure votes, the party at the Centre would be more than willing to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62. Despite a number of questions that were raised in the Parliament, and clarifications that were given for it, the topic somehow never quite died away. At least once every year, the issue makes headlines and vanishes.

7th Pay Scale: All the employees federations and associations, including the National Council – JCM, presented separate memorandums to the 7th Pay Commission listing their demands and expectations. Of particular interest was the ‘Expected Pay Structure‘, which described how the new pay package should be.

Income Tax: Since there were earlier news that the new income tax limit would likely be raised to Rs. 5 lakhs, a lot was expected from Arun Jaitley. But, he raised the income tax limit to Rs. 2.5 lakhs and the 80C limits to Rs. 1.5 Lakhs.

6-day work week: A lot of buzz was created when news appeared that 6-day work week was going to be soon implemented, particularly in Delhi circle.

Aadhaar Based Biometric Attendance System: Biometric attendance system, based on finger prints, were implemented in Central Government offices all over the country. Aadhaar Card-based attendance system was also introduced.

Air Travel on LTC: The popular air travel LTC facility was extended by another two years in September. In addition to J&K and NER, the facility now covers Andaman and Nicobar Islands too.

New announcements kept pouring in after Modi Government took charge.

Clean India: Orders were issued to clean up the country under the ‘Swachh Bharat’ mission. Since the movement was going to be launched on October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the national holiday was cancelled.

Declaration of Assets: Central Government employees were asked to submit information about their assets and debts to the government.

Digital Life Certificates: In November, the Central Government made arrangements to issue Aadhaar Card-based ‘Digital Life Certificates’ for pensioners.

Retirement Age 58: Fear and tension prevailed among Central Government employees when announcements appeared that the Centre was actually planning to reduce the retirement age. The Government then denied such plans.
