Quota for MPs for Admissions in Kendriya Vidyalayas

9 Rajya Sabha and 67 Lok Sabha Members have not used their full quota of 6 admissions in Kendriya Vidyalaya in the academic session 2012-13 at all and some Members have used their Quota partially.

A total of 1761 seats under this quota remained unutilized in the past three years, i.e. 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 as given below:-

The last date of Special Dispensation Admission under MP Quota has been extended upto 30th September, 2012. This may be brought to the notice of all the Principals of Kendriya Vidyalayas functioning under your jurisdiction immediately for necessary action at their end.

This issues with the approval of Hon’ble HRM & Chariman, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.

Sub : admission to Class XI, relaxation in criteria thereof.

Sir/Madam,

By now all schools under your jurisdiction would have applied the criteria as laid down in the admission guidelines 2012. for various streams of class XI and completed the admission process for Students of KV. They might also have extended fresh admissions to eligible candidates of other institutions in the order of priority laid down up to July 31st 2012.

As you have all been a part of the decision regarding increasing the cut off subject wise as well as CGPA, yet at the end of the exercise you might have a situation where some of the schools still have an appreciable number of vacancies in a particular stream.

First and foremost you are requested to assess the number of such schools under your jurisdiction where the enrolment is below the prescribed class strength of 40 and disseminate the following instructions as per the decision taken by the competent authority to ensure optimum utilization of resources.

From among the applicants of KV students admissions shall be made in different streams in relaxation of rules as indicated up to class strength of

In case even after the concession seats remain vacant the same shall be extended to students of other institutions in the prescribed order of priority for which the last date of admission may be extended to 31st August 2012.

Further the following clarification / partial modification in concessional clause in respect of special category of students may be brought to the notice of the Principals for admissions of KV TC cases.

Clause a) of page-7 of admission guide lines 2012: SC/ST students Concession: To be read as up scaling by one grade in not more than two subjects only and 0.4 enhancement in CGPA. This would may not more than 0.8 increase of CGPA (0.4 by way of subject wise up scaling and 0.4 advantage in CGPA direct)

Clause a) of page-7 of admission guide lines 2012: Games and sports etc

Concession:

The relaxation hitherto allowed only in CGPA can be redistributed among subjects in a matter that not more than two subject are up scaled at any time and the remaining credit directly added to the CGPA.

EXPLANATION

0.8 addition in CGPA can split as B2 to B1 in two subject and 0.4 in CGPA or B2 to B1 in one subject and 0.6 in CGPA. This explanation will hold in the case of SC/ST concession at clause a( as well.
0.6 addition in CGPA can split as B2 to B1 in two subjects and 0.2 in CGPA or B2 to B1 in one subject and 0.4 in CGPA.
0.2 addition in CGPA can split as B2 to B1 in one subject or 0.2 in CGPA.

PS : It may be borne in mind that the explanation as above is only in respect of a specific case taken as an example. It may be applied in individual cases so as to maintain the maximum relaxation in respect of the CGPA in each category as well as the maximum limit imposed on the number of subjects.

The action taken in this regard may be sent to the undersigned not later than 5th September 2012.

OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject : New Scheme for Special Dispensation Admission in Kendriya Vidyalayas.

Consequent upon the approval of the Board of Governors of KVS in the 93rd meeting held on 12th July 2012, the scheme of Special Dispensation Admission for Directorate of Education of Armed Forces i.e. Army, Air Force and Navy for recommending names for admission in Kendriya Vidyalayas comes into vogue with immediate effect with the following features :

i) Each Directorate of Education of Armed Forces i.e. Army, Air Force and Navy can refer 02 cases for admission in an academic year. The Directorate of Education of Armed Forces i.e. Army, Air Force and Navy can recommend 02 names for admission of wards of Defence Personnel’s who are otherwise eligible for admission, in Kendriya Vidyalayas located in Defence Sector.

ii) These admission shall be over and above the class strength.

iii) The recommendations would be made for all classes except pre-primary and classes X and XII.

iv) The admission would be made at the beginning of the academic year and no admission would be allowed after the prescribed cut off date (i.e. 31st July) of the year.

v) The recommendations to be made shall be valid only if these are made in the prescribed format provided to each Directorate of Education of Armed Forces i.e. Army, Air Force and Navy by KVS(HQ). Recommendations sent in any other format/manner shall not be considered.

(vi) The children recommended by Directorate of Education of Armed Forces i.e. Army, Air Force and Navy must be otherwise eligible for admission as per the extent KVS Admission Guidelines.

MPs Quota for Admission in KVs

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), with the approval of Board of Governors has implemented a new scheme of Special Dispensation Admission for Members of Parliament in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) with effect from 20.7.2012. Under the scheme, the dispensation admission quota on the recommendations for each MP has been raised to 6 admissions in an academic year. Such recommendations would be for admissions in Kendriya Vidyalayas located in his/her constituency only. In case there is no Kendriya Vidyalaya in the constituency of the Member of Parliament(Lok Sabha), he/she may recommend these admissions in the KVs located in any neighboring contiguous constituency.
However, for Members of the Rajya Sabha, the state from which the Member has been elected would be deemed to be his/her constituency for this purpose. Nominated Members of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha can recommend 6 cases for admission in any one or more KVs of the country.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Dr. D. Purandeswari, in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
