<p><em><strong>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (2016=100) – January, 2021</strong></em></p>



<p>The Labour Bureau, an attached office of the M/o Labour &amp; Employment, has been compiling Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers every month on the basis of retail prices collected from 317 markets spread over 88 industrially important centres in the country. The index is compiled for 88 centres and All-India and is released on the last working day of succeeding month. The index for the month of January, 2021 is being : released in this press release.</p>



<p>The All-India CPI-IW for January, 2021 decreased by 0.6 points and stood at 118.2 (one hundred eighteen and point two). On 1-month percentage change, it decreased by 0.51 with respect to previous month whereas no change was observed between corresponding months a year ago.</p>



<p>The maximum downward pressure in the current index came from Food &amp; Beverages group contributing 0.90 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Rice, Wheat Atta, Arhar Dal, Poultry (Chicken), Eggs-Hen, Banana, Brinjal, Cabbage, Carrot, Cauliflower, Chilies Green, Garlic, Ginger, Onion, Peas, Potato, Tomato, Employees State Insurance Contribution, etc. are responsible for the decline in index. However, this decline was checked by Housing and Fuel &amp; Light groups with a contribution of 0.29 &amp; 0.22 points respectively with items like House Rent, Cooking Gas, Petrol, etc. putting upward pressure on the index.</p>



<p>At centre level, Jalpaiguri recorded the maximum decrease of 6.0 points followed by Biswanath-Chariali with 4.5 points. Among others, between 3.0 to 3.7 points decline was observed in 5 centres, 2.2 to 2.9 points in 9 centres, 1.2 to 1.9 points in 12 centres and 0.1 to 0.9 points in 33 centres. On the contrary, Coonoor recorded a maximum increase of 2.7 points. Among others, 1.0 to 1.6 points rise was observed in 7 centres and 0.1 to 0.8 points in 17 centres. Rest of 2 centres’ indices remained Stationary.</p>



<p>Year-on-year inflation for the month stood at 3.15 per cent compared to 3.67 per cent for the previous month and 7.49 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, Food inflation stood at 2.38 per cent against 2.89 per cent of the previous month and 10.61 per cent during the corresponding month a year ago.</p>



<p>The next issue of <strong>CPI-IW for the month of February 2021 will be released on Wednesday 31st March 2021</strong>. The same will also be available on the office website www.labourbureaunew.gov.in.</p>

<p>The Minister of State (I/C) for Labour&amp; Employment Shri Gangwar has released the maiden AICPIN index with base year 2016 for the month of September, 2020. The Index is compiled for 88 centres and All India.</p>



<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong><a href="https://centralgovernmentnews.com/expected-da-2020-aicpin-for-the-month-of-september-2020-118-points/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Expected DA 2020 – AICPIN for the month of September 2020 – 118 points</a></strong></p>



<p>The All India Consumer Price index for the month of September, 2020 stands at the level of 118 and linking factor for the conversion of new series index to previous series on base 2001=100 is 2.88.</p>



<p>The CPI-IW (2016=100) series replaces the CPI-IW (2001=100) series. The new series is more representative in character and reflects the latest consumption pattern of the industrial workers.</p>

<p>In a special function organised by Labour Bureau on 22.10.2020, Minister of State (I/C) for Labour &amp; Employment Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, in the presence of Shri.Apurva Chandra, Secretary L&amp;E and Shri DPS Negi, Senior Labour&amp; Employment Advisor and Director General, Labour Bureau released the new series of Consumer Price Index for Industrial Worker (CPI-IW) with base year 2016, being compiled and maintained by Labour Bureau, an attached office of Ministry of Labour&amp; Employment. The new series of CPI(IW) with base 2016=100 will replace the existing series with base 2001=100</p>

<p><strong>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) &#8211; June, 2020</strong></p>



<p>The Labour Bureau, an attached office of the M/o Labour &amp; Employment, has been compiling Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers every month on the basis of the retail prices of selected items collected from 289 markets spread over 78 industrially important centres in the country. The index is compiled for 78 centres and All-India and is released on the last working day of succeeding month. The index for the month of June, 2020 is being released in this press release.</p>



<p>The All-India CPI-IW <a aria-label="undefined (opens in a new tab)" href="https://centralgovernmentnews.com/category/aicpn/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">AICPIN </a>for June, 2020 increased by 2 points and stood at 332 (three hundred and thirty two). On 1-month percentage change, it increased by (+) 0.61 per cent between May and June, 2020 compared to (+) 0.64 per cent increase between corresponding months of previous year.</p>

<p>The maximum upward pressure in current index came from Food group contributing (+) 1.65 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Rice, Groundnut Oil, Fish Fresh, Goat Meat, Poultry (Chicken), Milk (Buffalo), Brinjal, Cauliflower, Green Coriander Leaves, Potato, Tomato, Refined Liquor, Cooking Gas, Petrol, etc. are responsible for the increase in index. However, this increase was checked by Wheat Atta, Arhar Dal, Garlic, Onion, Arum, Coconut, Lady’s Finger, Lemon, Mango, Kerosene Oil, etc., putting downward pressure on the index.</p>



<p>At centre level, Jharia recorded the maximum increase of 9 points. Among others, 8 points increase was observed in 3 centres, 7 points in 2 centres, 6 points in 3 centres, 5 points in 7 centres, 4 points in 12 centres, 3 points in 7 centres, 2 points in 10 centres and 1 point in 12 centres. On the contrary, Ranchi-Hatia recorded the maximum decrease of 8 points. Among others, 3 points decrease was observed in 5 centres, 2 points in 2 centres and 1 point in 1 centre. Rest of 12 centres’ indices remained stationary.</p>



<p>The indices of 31 centres are above All-India Index and 45 centres’ indices are below national average. The indices of Chhindwara and Jalandhar centres remained at par with All-India Index.</p>



<p>Year-on-year inflation based on all-items stood at 5.06 per cent for June, 2020 as compared to 5.10 per cent for the previous month and 8.59 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous. year. Similarly, Food inflation stood at 5.49 per cent against 5.88 per cent of the previous month and 5.47 per cent during the corresponding month a year ago.</p>

<p>The All India CPI-IW for March 2019 increased by two points and pegged at 309.</p>



<p>The next issue of CPI-IW for the month of April 2019 will be released on Friday 31st May 2019. The same will also be available on the official website of labour bureau.</p>

<p><b> </b>The All-India CPI-IW for March, 2018 remained stationery at 287 (two hundred and eighty seven). On 1-month percentage change, it remained static between February and March, 2018 when compared with the increase of (+) 0.36 per cent between the corresponding months of previous year.</p>

<p>The maximum pressure to the change in current index came from Food group contributing (-) 0.25 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Wheat, Arhar Dal, Eggs (Hen), Poultry (Chicken), Onion, Tamarind, Coconut, Tomato, Sugar, Cooking Gas, Fire Wood, Flowers/Flower Garlands, etc. are responsible for the decrease in index. However, this decrease was checked by Rice, Fish Fresh, Apple, Bitter Gourd, Brinjal, French Bean, Lady Finger, Lemon, Parval, Peas, Potato, Radish, Doctor&#8217;s Fee, Bus Fare, etc., putting upward pressure on the index.</p>

<p>The year-on-year inflation based on CPI-IW stood at 4.36 per cent for March, 2018 as compared to 4.74 per cent for the previous month and 2.61 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, the Food inflation stood at 1.68 per cent against 2.36 per cent of the previous month and 1.71 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.</p>

<div data-blogger-escaped-style="text-align: justify;"> At centre level, Goa reported the maximum increase of 5 points followed by Jalpaiguri and Howrah (4 points each). Among others, 3 points increase was observed in 4 centres, 2 points in 7 centres and 1 point in 14 centres. On the contrary, Kodarma recorded a maximum decrease of 8 points followed by Nasik (5 points) and Tiruchirapally and Chennai (4 points each). Among others, 3 points decrease was observed in 4 centres, 2 points in another 4 centres and 1 point in 17 centres. Rest of the 21 centres indices remained stationary.</div>

<p>The indices of 37 centres are above All-India Index and 38 centres indices are below national average. The index of Mumbai, Chandigarh and Jabalpur centres remained at par with All-India Index.</p>

<p>Labour Bureau released today the press release of All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers) for the month of March, 2018. The index remain stands at 287 and when compare to the last month statistics, there is no change.</p>
<p>Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for Central Government Employees and Pensioners is calculated based on the CPI(IW) Base Year 2001=100.</p>

<p>The Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers Base Year 2001=100 for the month of September 2016 has been released by the Labour Bureau today through its official web portal. The index decreased by one point and stands at 277.</p>

<p><strong>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) &#8211; September, 2016</strong></p>
<p>The All-India CPI-IW for September, 2016 decreased by 1 point and stood at 277 (two hundred and seventy seven). On I-month percentage change, it decreased by (-) 0.36 per cent between August and September, 2016 when compared with the increase of(+) 0.76 per cent between the same two months a year ago.</p>
<p>The maximum downward pressure to the change in current index came from Food group contributing (-) 1.17 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Arhar Dal, Moong Dal, Masur Dal, Urd Dal, Fish Fresh, Eggs (Hen), Poultry (Chicken), Chillies Green, Onion, Brinjal, Cabbage, Carrot, Gourd, Green Coriander Leaves, Potato, Pumpkin, Tomato, Apple, Banana, Medicine (Allopathic), etc. are responsible for the decrease in index. However, this decrease was checked by Wheat, Wheat Atta, Gram Dal, Mustard Oil, Cauliflower, Parval, Radish, Coconut, Lemon,<br />
Tea (Readymade), Snack Saltish, Private Tuition Fee, Petrol, etc.</p>
<p>The year-on-year inflation measured by monthly CPI-IW stood at 4.14 per cent for September, 2016 as compared to 5.30 per cent for the previous month and 5.14 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, the Food inflation stood at 4.05 per cent against 6.16 per cent of the previous month and 5.71 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.</p>
<p>At centre level, Belgaum, Rajkot, Mumbai and Ahmedabad reported the maximum decrease of 4 points each followed by Ludhiana, Madurai, Agra, Chennai, Warrangal, Bhilwara and Surat (3 points each). Among others, 2 points decrease was observed in 12 centres and 1 point in 18 centres. On the contrary, Angul-Talcher recorded a maximum increase of 7 points followed by Howarah and Amritsar (3 points each). Among others, 2 points increase was observed in 8&#8242; centres and 1 point in 7 centres. Rest of the 19 centres indices remained stationary.</p>
<p>The indices of 33 centres are above All-India Index and other 41 centres. indices are below national average. The indices of Jabalpur, LucknQw, Pune and Bhopal centres remained at par with All-India Index.</p>
<p>The next issue of CPI-IW for the month of October, 2016 will be released on Wednesday, 30th November, 2016. The same will also be available on the office website www.labourbureaunew.gov.in.</p>

<p>One of the important nodal department of Central Government, the Labour Bureau is today releasing the statistics of consumer price index for the month of February 2015.</p>
<p>This index particularly used for the calculation of Dearness Allowance in respect of Central Government employees and Pensioners.</p>
<p>The Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) is an important statistical/economic indicator. It was first introduced on scientific lines with base 1960=100 which was based on the results of Family Living Survey conducted in 1958-59 at 50 industrially important centres.</p>
<p>The series was then, updated on base 1982=100 and a revision in 1999-2000 has further updated the base on 2001=100. The current series of CPI-IW with base year 2001=100 covers 78 industrially important centers spread across the country.</p>

<blockquote><p><strong>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-I W) – April, 2014</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>The All-India CPI-1W for April, 2014 increased by 3 points and pegged at 242 (two hundred and forty two). On 1-month percentage change, it increased by 1.26 percent between March, 2014 and April, 2014 when compared with the rise of 0.89 percent between the same two months a year ago.</p>
<p>The largest upward pressure to the change in current index came from Food group contributing 2.53 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Rice, Wheat, Wheat Atta, Moong Dal, Fish Fresh, Goat Meat, Milk (Buffalo), Vegetab’es &amp; Fruits, Sugar, Electricity Charges, etc, are responsible for the increase in index. However, this increase was restricted to some extent by Petrol putting downward pressure on the index.</p>
<p>The year-on-year inflation measured by monthly CPI-1W stood at 7.08 percent for April, 2014 as compared to 6.70 per cent for the previous month and 10.24 percent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, the Food inflation stood at 7.76 per cent against 7.50 per cent of the previous month and 12.39 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.</p>
<p>At centre level, Angul-Talcher, Amer and Asansol recorded the maximum increase of 7 points cach followed by Ludhiana, Ernakulam, Kodarma, Giridih and Tiruchirapally (6 points each) and Nagpur, Ghaziabad, Rangapara-Tezpur. Salem and Jabalpur (5 points each). Among others, 4 points rise was registered in 12 centres, 3 points in 16 centres, 2 poInts in 24 centres and 1 point In 8 centres. On the contrary, Munger-Jamalpur reported a decline of 4 points. Indices of remaining 4 centres observed no change.</p>
<p>The indices of 36 centres are above and other 41 centres are below national average. The index of Munger-Jamalpur is at par with all-India index.</p>
<p>The next index of CPI-1W for the month of May, 2014 will be released on Monday, 30 June, 2014. The same will also be available on the office website www,labourbureau.gov.in</p>

<div>Labour Bureau has published the detailed report of AICPIN for the month of December 2014 as press release on 31st Jan 2014 through its official portal, how the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) suddenly declined by four points and stands at 239 and Agricultural and Rural Labourers index also decreased by 12 and 11 points respectively in the same month&#8230;</div>

<div> <strong>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPl-IW) &#8211; December, 2013</strong></div>
<div></div>
<div>The <strong>All-India CPI-IW for December, 2013 declined by 4 points and pegged at 239 (two hundred and thirty nine).</strong> On 1-month percentage change, it decreased by 1.65 per cent between November and December compared with the rise of 0.46 per cent between the same two months a year ago.</div>
<div></div>
<div>The largest downward pressure to the change in current index came from Food group contributing -4.96 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Onion,Ginger, Chillies Green. Brinjal, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Peas, Tomato, Potato and other Vegetable items, Sugar, etc. are responsible for the decrease in index. However, this was compensated to some extent by Fish Fresh, Eggs Hen, Poultry, Milk, Pure Ghee, Garlic, Fire Wood. ESI Contribution, etc. putting upward pressure on the index.</div>

<div>The year-on-year inflation measured by monthly CPI-IW stood at 9.13 per cent for December, 2013 as compared to 11.47 per cent for the previous month and 11.17 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, the Food inflation stood at 11.49 per cent against 16.17 per cent of the previous month and 13.53 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.</div>

<div>At centre level, Giridih recorded the highest decline of 12 points followed by Ahmedabad, Chhinwara, Varanasi, Munger Jamalpur, Nagpur and Bhavnagar (10 points each), Jamshedpur (9 Points) Rourkela, Ludhiana, Tripura and Angul Talcher (8 points each). Among others, 7 points decrese was registered in 9 centres, 6 points in 8 centres, 5 points in 11 centres, 4 points in 8 centres, 3 points in 7 centres, 2 points in 9 centres and 1 point in 7 centres. On the contrary, Sholapur centre reported an increase of 4 points followed by Puducherry (2 points), Coimbatore and Srinagar centres 1 point each. Rest of the 3 centres indices remained stationary.</div>

<div>The indices of 37 centres are above All-India Index and other 39 centres’ indices are below national average. The index of Varanasi and Vijaywada centres remained at pam with all-India index.</div>

<div>The next index of CPI-IW for the month of January, 2014 will be released on Friday, 28 February, 2014. The same will also be available on the office website www.labourbureau.gov.in.</div>
