NOTICE

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has conducted the written Examination for the post of Lower Division Clerk from 19th February, 2018 to 23rd February, 2018 in various shifts. In preperation of result of written examination for the post of LDC, Score Normalization Method has been adopted by KVS. The formula of Score Normalization Method is placed below.

Score Normalization

About Normalization
Normalization means adjusting values measured on different scales to a notionally common scale.

Need for Normalization in Exam
Exam pertaining for a particular post/course could be spread across multiple shifts which will have different question paper for each shift. Hence the normalization of scores need to be carried out for all the candidates who had written the exam, across shifts for the same post/course.

Normally, after the exam, candidates are provided a window of few days, post the publishing of question paper and the correct keys. Based on the objections raised, SMEs work on that and with customer consultation finalize to ignore some objected questions and the remaining questions will be considered for score evaluation and subsequently the score normalization.

Inputs required for score normalization process
1. Raw score report of the candidates who appeared for a particular post, across all shifts.
2. The actual number of valid questions to be considered, post the objection

Score Normalization logic
The following has to be calculated across all shifts for all the candidates who have written the exam for the same post.

Total Number of Questions (A)
Defined as the number of questions available in the question paper. (e.g. 120 questions)

As an example, ASSUME the question papers has 120 questions

Total Number of Correct Questions (B)
Defined as the number of valid questions which have to be considered for score evaluation and score normalization, post the finalization of questions after the candidates have raised objections (if any)

B = A – # questions which are removed post candidate objections

ASSUME there are 3 invalid questions in (A)

Then B = 120-3 = 117

Example: ASSUME a candidate has attempted 103 out of 117 questions, of which 98 are correct responses and 5 are wrong resonses. 14 un-attempted questions will be Blanks.

Total Correct Responses (C)
Defined as the number of responses which are answered correctly by the candidate for the total number of valid questions (B)

In the example C = 98

In the example D = 98

Candidate Score to be considered for Normalization (E)
Consider the case where scores will be based on 120. So, score (D) of every candidate is to be prorated i.e. it has to be multiplied by the factor: 120/B

In the example E = (D/B)*100 = (98/117)*120 = 120 = 100.5128205

Now we need to calculate Average and Standard Deviation for each Shift

Calculation of Standard Deviation Example : 9 candidates attended a shift

Xav is the average which is total marks divided by no. of candidates

Xav = : L /No. of candidates present for that particular shift = 585 / 9 = 65

Standard Deviation = square root of ∑x²/N = square root of 4356/9 = square root of 484 = 22

Total Raw Scores for all candidates in a shift (L)
Sum of Raw candidates raw scores (X) for all candidates in a shift

L = ∑X

In the SD example L = 585

Simple Average (Xav)

Total Raw score for all candidates in a shift (L) / Total candidate (Present) count for a shift
= L /N

Standared Deviation (S)
Calculated at a shift level bases on the candidate’s scores

To be calculated as explained in the example

Normalized Score for each candidate (Xn)

Xn = (S2/S1) * (X-Xav) + Yav

Criteria for choosing the base for normalization is generally taken as the shift with ‘Highest Average’ of raw scores. Only exception is made if this shift (with highest average) has far less number of candidates as compared to other shifts. In that case we take the next shift with ‘highest Average’ as base for normalization.

70% of the average attendance is the limit. Any value below this should not be considered for the base. (This percentage can be set to any value)

The Admission Schedule for the Session 2017-18 will be as under:-

Subject to availability of vacancies in a particular class

Note:

1. Admission under Special Provisions (Part B) (Single girl child, Grand son/grand daughters of KVS retired employees etc.) will be offline. In this regard please contact Principal of concerned Kendriya Vidyalaya.

2. List of children registered, list of eligible children, category-wise list of provisionally selected children, waiting list and subsequent lists to be compulsorily displayed on the web-site of the Kendriya Vidyalayas concerned, in addition to display on School’s Notice Board.

3. If any of the dates happens to be a public holiday the next working day shall be treated as opening/closing date.

Government schools are usually in the news for all the wrong reasons but a taint survey has ranked Chennai’s Kendriya Vidyalaya-IIT Madras campus at the to Ten other schools from Tamil Nadu found a place among the top 10 in various categories.

Seven of the top 10 government day schools are Kendriya Vidyalayas with the ohe on the HT-Madras campus at the top. The school scored 981 points out of 1,500 in the survey, leading Kendriya Vidyalaya, NMR, JNU Campus, Delhi, by four points. Rkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, Dwarka, Delhi, is at the third place with 951 points and its branch in Shalimar Bagh in the city is at sixth place with 925 points. Two schools from Kerala and one each from Kolkata, Kanpur Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Mumbai are the others topping the list.

In the survey carried out in Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Mumbai, Kanpur Bhopal, Kolkata and Kochi, more than 1,000 fee paying and non-fee paying parents from various socio-economic categories, teachers, principals, educationists and academicians were interviewed by field researchers of

C-Force, a marketing company in Delhi. The survey was conducted between May and July, and the results were declared in September.

The interviewees were asked to rate schools on a 10 point scale based on 14 parameters like teacher welfare and development, competence of faculty sports education, special needs education, co-curricular education, infrastructure provision, academic reputation, value for money, individual attention to students, management quality, parental involvement, internationalism, community service, and life skills education and conflict management.

OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject : New Scheme of Special Dispensation Admission in Kendriya  Vidyalayas

Consequent upon the approval of the Board of Governors of KVS in the 93rd Meeting held on 12th July 2012, the New Scheme of special Dispensation Admission for Members of Parliament for recommending names for admission in Kendriya Vidyalayas (in lieu of the existing scheme) comes into vogue with immediate effect with the following features.

i)Each MP can refer 06 (six) cases for admission under the Scheme in an academic year but such recommendations shall be confined to children whose parents belong to this constituency either by domicile or an account of having been soon-before posted there or else on account of exigencies of service migrate to his constituency. Such recommendations would be for admissions in Kendriya vidyalayas located in his constituency only. In case there is no Kendirya Vidyalaya in the Constituency of the Hon’ble MP (Lok Sabha) he/she may recommend these admissions in the Kendriya Vidyalaya(s) located in any neighbouring contiguous constituency. For members of the Rajya Sabha, the state from where the member has been elected would be deemed to be his constituency for this purpose. Nominated members of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha can recommend 06 cases for this purpose. Nominated members of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha can remommend 06 cases for admissible in any one or more Kendriya vidyalayas o the country.

ii) These admissions shall be over and above the class strength.

iii) The recommendations would be made for all classes except-pre-primary and classes Xth and XIIth

iv) These admissions would be made at the beginning of the academic year and no admission would be allowed after the prescribed cut off date (i.e.31st july) of the year, However the cut off date for admission in Kendriya Vidyalayas under this scheme, for the current academic session (2012-13) is extended to 31st August 2012 keeping in view the paucity of time.

v) The recommendations to be made shall be valid only if these are made in the prescribed format provided to each member of parliament by KVS(HQ). Recommendations sent in any other format/manner shall not be considered.

vi) The children recommended by Hon’ble Members of parliament must be otherwise eligible for admission as per the extant KVS Admission Guidelines.

vii) Those Hon’ble Members of Parliament who have already recommend two names for the session 2012-13
