<p><strong>Union Budget proposes to set up 100 new Sainik Schools in partnership with NGOs/ private schools/ states</strong></p>

<p>Union Budget for Financial Year 2021-22 has proposed to set up 100 new Sainik Schools in the country, in partnership with NGOs/ private schools/ state-owned schools, etc. Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman had presented the Budget in Parliament on February 01, 2021. The endeavor is to provide schooling opportunities in ‘CBSE Plus’ type of educational environment by involving desirous Government/ Private schools/NGOs to partner in establishing/aligning their system with Sainik Schools’ ethos, value system, and national pride. It envisages enrolling existing/upcoming schools to be run on the lines of Sainik Schools’ curriculum.</p>



<p>All 100 schools are proposed to be affiliated to Sainik Schools Society. Such affiliated Sainik Schools will be provided with part financial support to incentivise the effort.</p>



<p>The aim of establishing Sainik Schools is to prepare children academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy and to develop qualities of body, mind and character which will enable the young boys to become good and useful citizens.</p>



<p>At present, there are 33 Sainik Schools functioning all over the country. From the academic session 2021-22, girl candidates are also eligible for admission to Class VI in all 33 Sainik Schools.</p>

<p>Sainik Schools are established on receipt of a request from State Government agreeing to provide land alongwith funds for the creation and maintenance of basic infrastructure, purchase of equipments and other facilities besides scholarships for the cadets belonging to the State.  On receipt of proposal from the State Government, an inspection of the proposed site is carried out by the officials of Sainik Schools Society to ascertain its suitability.</p>



<p>Sainik Schools have produced some of the best officers in the Indian Armed Forces and eminent personalities in the field of public service, administration and media.</p>



<p>The Government is satisfied with the performance/standard of education of Sainik Schools.  Sainik Schools have proven their utility by providing a large number of cadets joining the National Defence Academy/Indian Naval Academy/Officers Training Academy etc.  Further, regular in-service programmes are conducted to the teaching staff to keep them abreast with the evolving educational requirements.</p>



<p>This information was given by Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Shripad Naik in a written reply to Shri Sudarshan Bhagat and others in Lok Sabha today.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Over 5.5 lakh teaching posts in primary schools vacant: government</p>
<p>Over 5.5 lakh of the 33.08 lakh sanctioned posts of primary teachers in government schools across the country are vacant, Rajya Sabha was informed today.</p>
<p>HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar, in a written reply to a question on primary education, told the House that 5.56 lakh or 16.82 per cent of the total sanctioned posts in schools across states and union territories were vacant as on March 31.</p>
<p>Replying to another question, he gave details as per which out of 16,823 sanctioned teaching posts (2,386 professors, 4,747 associate professors and 9,690 assistant professors) in various central universities under University Grants Commission (UGC), 5,983 posts were vacant.</p>
<p>Among the vacancies as on June 30 are posts of 1,284 professors, 2,185 associate professors and 2,514 assistant professors.</p>
<p>The HRD minister also said that out of 454 total teaching posts in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), 175 were vacant as on February 29.</p>
