How to calculate Dearness Allowance from Jan 2025?

Calculating the Dearness Allowance (DA) from January 2025 is quite straightforward according to the 7th Pay Commission. You’ll need the AICPIN figures for the entire year from January to December 2024. These figures are based on the 2016 index and must be adjusted to reflect the base year of 2001. The conversion factor to transition the AICPIN data from 2016 to 2001 is 2.88. By multiplying the 2016 AICPIN figures by this factor, you will obtain the required data for 2001. Below is a clear step-by-step guide to determining the DA percentage for government employees and pensioners in India:

Step 1: Convert AICPIN to the year 2001.
Step 2: Sum the figures for all 12 months.
Step 3: Calculate the average for these 12 months.
Step 4: Determine the increase over the benchmark of 261.42.
Step 5: Divide this increase by 261.42.
Step 6: Round down to the nearest whole number, ignoring any decimals.

DA Hike July 2023

Dearness Allowances Approval of a hike starting in July 2023 Cabinet meeting is scheduled for today, October 4, 2023, at 10:30AM. The Centre may provide a 4% DA increase to employees and pensioners ahead of Navratri on October 4, 2023. Before Navratri, the Modi government may enhance the dearness allowance for central employees and pensioners by 4%.

Dearness Allowance Hike from July, 2023

According to media reports, the Modi administration plans to give a major pre-Navratri gift to central employees and pensioners on October 4, 2023. An approval for boosting the dearness allowance of government employees and retirees is expected during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Increase in dearness allowance is likely to be approved.

The Union Cabinet and the Economic Affairs Committee of the Cabinet will meet at 10:30 a.m. on October 4, 2023. During this meeting, the Modi government is expected to enhance the dearness allowance for central employees and pensioners. This judgement is critical because the Election Commission can announce assembly election dates in all five states at any time. The enforcement of the code of conduct will occur immediately after the release of election dates, making it difficult for the administration to make this decision.

DA hike for central government employees and pensioners in January 2024 likely to be a minimum of 4% taking the DA to 50%

A possible 4% increase in the 7th Pay Commission dearness allowance

Since July, central employees and pensioners have been waiting for an increase in their dearness allowance. The central government may increase the dearness allowance from 42% to 46% beginning July 1. The dearness allowance rise is expected to be included in the October wage, and arrears from July to September may also be distributed to central employees together with the October salary.

A timely gift before Navratri!

The Navratri festival begins on October 15, and Dussehra is on October 24. Furthermore, the Election Commission may issue assembly election dates at any time. As a result, the decision to boost the dearness allowance for central govt staffs and pensioners is expected to be made on Wednesday. The Central Government’s move will assist 47 lakh employees and 68 lakh retirees, relieving them of the burden of rising inflation.

From July 2023, it is projected that the Dearness Allowance would increase. Dearness Allowance (DA) is an essential benefit given to employees to offset the impacts of wage inflation and preserve their buying power. Government employees, as well as individuals in the public and specific private sectors, frequently receive this payment.

January DA order 2023

DA Calculation and Analysis

Every six months, on average, DA is reviewed and revised. DA is commonly computed as a percentage of an employee’s basic pay. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) statistics and other economic indicators are among the many elements taken into consideration during the revision process.

Expected DA from July 2023 is 46%

The Dearness Allowance is expected to rise to roughly 46% in the forthcoming month of July 2023. It’s crucial to remember that the real DA rate might change depending on things like geography and type of employment. The Indian government or the appropriate state government will formally publish the July 2023 DA rate in the upcoming months. The most accurate and recent information regarding the DA rates should be sought out by employees from their employers or the appropriate government agencies in order to stay informed.

The importance of DA

Dearness Allowance is essential for assisting workers in minimising the effects of growing living expenses and preserving their financial security. It strives to guarantee that employees can maintain their level of living and purchasing power in the face of inflationary challenges by routinely reviewing and adjusting DA.

Calculations for Expected Dearness Allowance

Employees can use an Expected Dearness Allowance Calculate to project their Dearness Allowance for July 2023. The DA rate for the chosen month is roughly calculated using current Consumer Price Index (CPI) data and other economic factors by this tool. The calculator will require that employees provide pertinent CPI data as well as other required details like location and work type. The findings of the calculator should not be taken as exact, as the actual DA rate may vary depending on the state of the economy and other variables. In order to ensure accuracy, employees should always confirm the most recent DA rates with their company or the appropriate government bodies.

Conclusion

Last but not least, it is predicted that the Expected DA From July 2023 will rise to about 46%. You can keep informed and up to date on the DA rates.

The Labour Bureau has publishes the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AI CPI-IW) for the month of April 2021. The index increased by 0.5 points and stood at 120.1 (one hundred twenty and point one). On 1-month percentage change, it increased by 0.42 per cent with respect to a previous month whereas there was a decline of 0.92 per cent between corresponding months a year ago.

The maximum upward pressure in current index came from Food & Beverages group contributing 0.43 percentage points to the total change.

The increase is a minor one but giving considerable impact on expected Dearness Allowance, the CPI-IW upto the month of April 2021 is using for the calculation of the Dearness Allowance from July 2021, and two more figures are required for this. The government has frozen the DA till June 2021. Hence it is expected that the Hike DA will be available from the month of July 2021 or even earlier. The following table is showing that DA/DR from July 2021 is expected to be 31%. If next month’s CPI (IW) will reduce to more than 0.2 points be less than 119.9 points the DA/DR from July 2021 can stop at 30%. With this four months figure, it is now clear that the rate of DA from July 2021 almost be 31%.
