<p><strong>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (2016=100) – March, 2021</strong></p>



<p>The Labour Bureau, an attached office of the M/o Labour &amp; Employment, has been compiling Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers every month on the basis of retail prices collected from 317 markets spread over 88 industrially important centres in the country. The index is compiled for 88 centres and All-India and is released on the last working day of succeeding month. The index for the month of March, 2021 is being released in this press release.</p>



<p>The All-India CPI-IW for March, 2021 increased by 0.6 points and stood at 119.6 (one hundred nineteen and point six). On 1-month percentage change, it increased by 0.50 per cent with respect to previous month whereas there was a decline of 0.61 per cent between corresponding months a year ago.</p>



<p>The maximum upward pressure in current index came from Fuel &amp; Light group contributing 0.40 percentage points to the total change. It was further supplemented by Miscellaneous group contributing 0.15 percentage points to the total rise. At item level, Cooking Gas, Petrol, Poultry Chicken, Edible Oils, Apple, Orange, Tea Leaf, Served &amp; Processed Packaged Food, etc. are responsible for the rise in index. However, this increase was mostly checked by vegetables putting downward pressure on the index.</p>



<p>At centre level, Jamshedpur and Sangrur recorded maximum increase of 3.0 points each. Among others, 4 centres observed an increase between 2 to 2.9 points, 22 centres between 1 to 1.9 points and 45 centres between 0 to 0.9 points. On the contrary, Doom-Dooma Tinsukia recorded a maximum decrease of 3.2 points. Among others, 2 centres observed a decline between 2.0 to 2.9 points, another 2 centres between 1 to 1.9 points and remaining 10 centres between 0 to 0.9 points.</p>



<p>Year-on-year inflation for the month stood at 5.64 per cent compared to 4.48 per cent for the previous month and 5.50 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, Food inflation stood at 5.36 per cent against 4.64 per cent of the previous month and 6.67 per cent during the corresponding month a year ago.</p>

<p><em><strong>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (2016=100) – January, 2021</strong></em></p>



<p>The Labour Bureau, an attached office of the M/o Labour &amp; Employment, has been compiling Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers every month on the basis of retail prices collected from 317 markets spread over 88 industrially important centres in the country. The index is compiled for 88 centres and All-India and is released on the last working day of succeeding month. The index for the month of January, 2021 is being : released in this press release.</p>



<p>The All-India CPI-IW for January, 2021 decreased by 0.6 points and stood at 118.2 (one hundred eighteen and point two). On 1-month percentage change, it decreased by 0.51 with respect to previous month whereas no change was observed between corresponding months a year ago.</p>



<p>The maximum downward pressure in the current index came from Food &amp; Beverages group contributing 0.90 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Rice, Wheat Atta, Arhar Dal, Poultry (Chicken), Eggs-Hen, Banana, Brinjal, Cabbage, Carrot, Cauliflower, Chilies Green, Garlic, Ginger, Onion, Peas, Potato, Tomato, Employees State Insurance Contribution, etc. are responsible for the decline in index. However, this decline was checked by Housing and Fuel &amp; Light groups with a contribution of 0.29 &amp; 0.22 points respectively with items like House Rent, Cooking Gas, Petrol, etc. putting upward pressure on the index.</p>



<p>At centre level, Jalpaiguri recorded the maximum decrease of 6.0 points followed by Biswanath-Chariali with 4.5 points. Among others, between 3.0 to 3.7 points decline was observed in 5 centres, 2.2 to 2.9 points in 9 centres, 1.2 to 1.9 points in 12 centres and 0.1 to 0.9 points in 33 centres. On the contrary, Coonoor recorded a maximum increase of 2.7 points. Among others, 1.0 to 1.6 points rise was observed in 7 centres and 0.1 to 0.8 points in 17 centres. Rest of 2 centres’ indices remained Stationary.</p>



<p>Year-on-year inflation for the month stood at 3.15 per cent compared to 3.67 per cent for the previous month and 7.49 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, Food inflation stood at 2.38 per cent against 2.89 per cent of the previous month and 10.61 per cent during the corresponding month a year ago.</p>



<p>The next issue of <strong>CPI-IW for the month of February 2021 will be released on Wednesday 31st March 2021</strong>. The same will also be available on the office website www.labourbureaunew.gov.in.</p>

<p>The Minister of State (I/C) for Labour&amp; Employment Shri Gangwar has released the maiden AICPIN index with base year 2016 for the month of September, 2020. The Index is compiled for 88 centres and All India.</p>

<p>The All India Consumer Price index for the month of September, 2020 stands at the level of 118 and linking factor for the conversion of new series index to previous series on base 2001=100 is 2.88.</p>



<p>The CPI-IW (2016=100) series replaces the CPI-IW (2001=100) series. The new series is more representative in character and reflects the latest consumption pattern of the industrial workers.</p>

<p>In a special function organised by Labour Bureau on 22.10.2020, Minister of State (I/C) for Labour &amp; Employment Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, in the presence of Shri.Apurva Chandra, Secretary L&amp;E and Shri DPS Negi, Senior Labour&amp; Employment Advisor and Director General, Labour Bureau released the new series of Consumer Price Index for Industrial Worker (CPI-IW) with base year 2016, being compiled and maintained by Labour Bureau, an attached office of Ministry of Labour&amp; Employment. The new series of CPI(IW) with base 2016=100 will replace the existing series with base 2001=100</p>

<p><strong>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) &#8211; June, 2020</strong></p>



<p>The Labour Bureau, an attached office of the M/o Labour &amp; Employment, has been compiling Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers every month on the basis of the retail prices of selected items collected from 289 markets spread over 78 industrially important centres in the country. The index is compiled for 78 centres and All-India and is released on the last working day of succeeding month. The index for the month of June, 2020 is being released in this press release.</p>



<p>The All-India CPI-IW <a aria-label="undefined (opens in a new tab)" href="https://centralgovernmentnews.com/category/aicpn/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">AICPIN </a>for June, 2020 increased by 2 points and stood at 332 (three hundred and thirty two). On 1-month percentage change, it increased by (+) 0.61 per cent between May and June, 2020 compared to (+) 0.64 per cent increase between corresponding months of previous year.</p>

<p>The maximum upward pressure in current index came from Food group contributing (+) 1.65 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Rice, Groundnut Oil, Fish Fresh, Goat Meat, Poultry (Chicken), Milk (Buffalo), Brinjal, Cauliflower, Green Coriander Leaves, Potato, Tomato, Refined Liquor, Cooking Gas, Petrol, etc. are responsible for the increase in index. However, this increase was checked by Wheat Atta, Arhar Dal, Garlic, Onion, Arum, Coconut, Lady’s Finger, Lemon, Mango, Kerosene Oil, etc., putting downward pressure on the index.</p>



<p>At centre level, Jharia recorded the maximum increase of 9 points. Among others, 8 points increase was observed in 3 centres, 7 points in 2 centres, 6 points in 3 centres, 5 points in 7 centres, 4 points in 12 centres, 3 points in 7 centres, 2 points in 10 centres and 1 point in 12 centres. On the contrary, Ranchi-Hatia recorded the maximum decrease of 8 points. Among others, 3 points decrease was observed in 5 centres, 2 points in 2 centres and 1 point in 1 centre. Rest of 12 centres’ indices remained stationary.</p>



<p>The indices of 31 centres are above All-India Index and 45 centres’ indices are below national average. The indices of Chhindwara and Jalandhar centres remained at par with All-India Index.</p>



<p>Year-on-year inflation based on all-items stood at 5.06 per cent for June, 2020 as compared to 5.10 per cent for the previous month and 8.59 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous. year. Similarly, Food inflation stood at 5.49 per cent against 5.88 per cent of the previous month and 5.47 per cent during the corresponding month a year ago.</p>



<p>The next issue of CPI-IW for the month of July, 2020 will be released on Monday 31st August, 2020. The same will also be available on the office website www.labourbureaunew.gov.in</p>

<p>The maximum upward pressure in current index came from Food group contributing (+) 2.43 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Rice, Wheat, Wheat Atta, Arhar Dal, Moong Dal, Mustard Oil, Fish Fresh, Goat Meat, Poultry (Chicken), Brinjal, Cabbage, Cauliflower, French Bean, Green Coriander Leaves, Lady’s Finger, Palak, Potato, Radish, Tomato, Banana, Lemon, Mango (Ripe), Sugar, Cooking Gas, etc. are responsible for the increase in index. However, this increase was checked by Garlic, Onion, Parval, Petrol, Flowers/Flower Garlands, etc., putting downward pressure on the index.</p>



<p>Year-on-year inflation based on all-items stood at 5.45 per cent for April, 2020 as compared to 5.50 per cent for the previous month and 8.33 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, Food inflation stood at 6.56 per cent against 6.67 per cent of the previous month and 4.92 per cent during the corresponding month an year ago.</p>



<p>At centre level, Doom-Dooma Tinsukia recorded the maximum increase of 14 points followed by Salem (12 points) and Surat (10 points). Among others, 9 points increase was observed in 2 centres, 8 points in another 2 centres, 7 points in 3 centres, 6 points in 2 centres, 5 points in 5 centres, 4 points in another 5 centres, 3 points in 11 centres, 2 points in 10 centres and 1 point in 18 centres. On the contrary, Chhindwara, Vadodara, Bhilai, Yamunanagar and Jamshedpur recorded a decrease of 1 point each. Rest of 12 centres’ indices remained stationary.</p>

<p>The indices of 33 centres are above All-India Index and 44 centres’ indices are below national average. The index of Rourkela centre remained at par with All-India Index.</p>

<p><strong>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) &#8211; December, 2017</strong></p>
<p>The All-India CPI-IW for December, 2017 decreased by 2 points and pegged at 286 (two( hundred and eighty six). On 1-month percentage change, it decreased by (-) 0.69 per cent between November, 2017 and December, 2017 when compared with the decrease of (-) 0,72 per cent for the corresponding months of last year.</p>
<p>The maximum downward pressure to the change in current index came from Food grotip contributing (-) 2.37 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Rice, Arhar Dal, Gram Dal, Groundnut Oil, Chillies Green, Brinjal, Cabbage, Carrot, Cauliflower, French Beans, Green Coriander Leaves, Methi, Palak, Peas, Potato, Radish, Tomato, Banana, Sugar, ESI Premium Contribution, Toilet Soap, etc. are responsible for the decrease in index. However, this decrease was checked by Wheat Atta, Coconut Oil, Fish Fresh, Goat Meat, Onion, Tamarind, Coconut, Electricity Charges, Firewood. Secondary School Fee, Flowers/Flower Garlands, etc., putting upward pressure on the index.</p>
<p>The year-on-year inflation measured by monthly CPI-IW stood at 4.00 per cent for December, 2017 as compared to 3.97 per cent for the previous month and 2.23 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, the Food inflation stood at 4.32 per cent &#8216;against 3.91 per cent of the previous month and 0.67 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.</p>
<p>At centre level, Jamshedpur and Tiruchirapally reported the maximum decrease of (7 points each) followed by Doom Dooma Tinsukia, Siliguri, Godavarikhani and Jalpaiguri (6 points each). Among others, 5 points decrease was observed in 7 centres, 4 points in 10 centres, 3 points in 9 centres, 2 points in 21 centres and 1 point in 13 centres. On the contrary, Darjeeling recorded a maximum increase of 8 points followed by Maria&#8217; (4 points) and Srinagar (3 points). Among others, 2 points increase was observed in 2 centres and 1 point in 2 centres. Rest of the 5 centres&#8217; indices remained stationary.</p>
<p>The indices of 35 centres are above All-India Index and 43 centres&#8217; indices are below national average.</p>
<p>The next issue of CPI-IW for the month of January, 2018 will be released on Wednesday, 28th February, 2018. The same will also be available on the office website www.labourbureanew.gov.in.</p>

<p>The All-India CPI-IW for July, 2017 increased by 5 points and pegged at 285 (two hundred and eighty five). In terms of monthly change, it increased by (+) 1.79 per cent between June, 2017 and July, 2017 when compared with the increase of (+) 1.08 per cent for the corresponding months of last year.</p>

The House Rent index further accentuated the overall index by (+) 0.70 percentage points. At item level, Rice, Pure Ghee, Chillies (Green), Onion, Bitter Gourd, Brinjal, Gourd, Lady’s Finger, Palak, Parwal, Potato, Pumpkin, Tomato, Torai, Banana, Cucumber, Mango, Tea (Readymade), Bidi, Cooking Gas, Kerosene Oil, etc. are responsible for the increase in index. However, this increase was checked by Wheat, Arhar Dal, Masur Dal, Urd Dal, Coconut Oil, Mustard Oil, Poultry (Chicken), Coconut, Lemon, Petrol, etc., putting downward pressure on the index.</p>

<p>The year-on-year inflation measured by monthly CPI-IW stood at 1.79 per cent for July, 2017 as compared to 1.08 per cent for the previous month and 6.46 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, the Food inflation stood at (-) 0.32 per cent against (-) 1.28 per cent of the previous month and 9.34 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.</p>

<p>At centre level, Jamshedpur reported the maximum increase of 12 points followed by Delhi and Ranchi-Hatia (11 points each), Raniganj and Jaipur (10 points each) and Varanasi and Amritsar (9 points each). Among others, 8 points increase was observed in 2 centres, 7 points in 7 centres, 6 points in 7 centres, 5 points in 11 centres, 4 points in 10 centres, 3 points in 13 centres, 2 points in 9 centres and 1 point in 5 centres. On the contrary, Goa recorded a decrease of 1 point. Rest of the 6 centres indices remained stationary.</p>

<p><strong>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) &#8211; February, 2017</strong></p>
<p>The All-India CPI-IW for February, 2017 remained stationary at 274 (two hundred and seventy four). On 1-month percentage change, it remained static between January, 2017 and February, 2017, when compared with the decrease of 0.74 per cent between the same two months a year ago.</p>
<p>The maximum downward pressure to the change in current index came from Food group contributing (-) 0.46 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Rice, Wheat, Arhar Dal, Black Gram, Gram Dal, Urd Dal, Masur Dal, Moong Dal, Besan, Groundnut Oil, Mustard Oil, Eggs (Hen), Garlic, Potato, Cabbage, etc. are responsible for the decrease in index. However, this decrease was checked by Coconut Oil, Fish Fresh, Milk, Tomato, Lady&#8217;s Finger, French Beans, Coconut, Banana, Apple, Sugar, Tea (Readymade), Cooking Gas, Medicine (Allopathic), Tailoring Charges, etc., putting upward pressure on the index.</p>
<p>The year-on-year inflation measured by monthly CPI-IW stood at 2.62 per cent for February, 2017 as compared to 1.86 per cent for the previous month and 5.53 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, the Food inflation stood at 1.71 per cent against 0.34 per cent of the previous month and 6.18 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.</p>
<p>At centre level, Rajkot reported the maximum decrease of 5 points followed by Sholapur, Chhindwara, Darjeeling and Bhilai (4 points each). Among others, 3 points decrease was observed in 5 centres, 2 points in 15 centre and 1 point in 18 centres. On the contrary, Quilon recorded a maximum increase of 12 points followed by Coimbatore (7 points), Belgaum and Mysore (6 points each) and Mundakkayam (4 points). Among others, 3 points increase was observed in 4 centres, 2 points in 2 centres and 1 point in 12 centres. Rest of the 12 centres’ indices remained stationary.</p>
<p>The indices of 33 centres are above All-India Index and other 44 centres&#8217; indices are below national average. The index of Varanasi centre remained at par with All-India Index.</p>
<p>The next issue of CPI-IW for the month of March, 2017 will be released on Friday, 28th April, 2017. The same will also be available on the office website www.labourbureaunew.gov.in.</p>

<p><em>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for the month of January 2017.</em></p>
<p>The Labour Bureau today published the statistical index of CPI-IW for the calculation purpose of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for the existing and retired employees of Central Government. This Consumer Price Index also used for the calculation of Dearness Allowance for Workmen and Officers Employees in Banks.</p>
<p>The All-India CPI-IW for January 2017 decreased by one point and stood at 274.</p>

<p><strong>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) &#8211; November, 2016</strong></p>
<p>The All-India CPI-IW for November, 2016 decreased by 1 point and stood at 277 (two hundred and seventy seven). On 1-month percentage change, it decreased by (-) 0.36 per cent between October and November, 2016 when compared with the increase of (+) 0.37 per cent between the same two months a year ago.</p>
<p>The maximum downward pressure to the change in current index came from Food group contributing (-) 1.33 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Rice, Arhar Dal, Moong Dal, Urd Dal, Groundnut Oil, Chillies Green, Banana, Brinjal, Cabbage, Cauliflower, French Beans, Gourd, Green Coriander Leaves, Lady’s Finger, Methi, Palak, Potato, Radish, Tomato, etc. are responsible for the decrease in index. However, this decrease was checked by Wheat, Wheat Atta, Gram Dal, Goat Meat, Tea (Readymade), Cooking Gas, Electricity Charges, Petrol, Toilet Soap, etc., putting upward pressure on the index.</p>
<p>The year-on-year inflation measured by monthly CPI-IW stood at 2.59 per cent for November, 2016 as compared to 3.35 per cent for the previous month and 6.72 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, the Food inflation stood at 1.66 per cent against 2.99 per cent of the previous month and 7.86 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.</p>
<p>At centre level, Salem reported the maximum decrease of 10 points followed by Bokaro (9 points), Raniganj and Kolkata (6 points each) and Ahmedabad (5 points). Among others, 4 points decrease was observed in 2 centres, 3 points in 8 centres, 2 points in 8 centres and 1 point in 15 centres. On the contrary, Jaipur recorded a maximum increase of 6 points followed by Rourkela and Srinagar (3 points each). Among others, 2 points increase was observed in 5 centres and 1 point in 7 centres. Rest of the 25 centres’ indices remained stationary.</p>
<p>The indices of 35 centres are above All-India Index and other 40 centres’ indices are below national average. The index of Jabalpur, Vishakhapathnam and Ludhiana centres remained at par with All-India Index.</p>
<p>The next issue of CPI-IW for the month of December, 2016 will be released on Tuesday, 31st January, 2017. The same will also be available on the office website www.labourbureaunew.gov.in.</p>
