While answering to a question about the issue of visiting Eye Specilists in CGHS dispensaries in the Rajya Sabha on 17th December 2013 by the Minister of Health and Family Welfare Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad as follows…

The Eye specialists refer CGHS beneficiary patients for eye tests to CGHS empanelled private hospitals / eye clinics for getting the prescribed tests done. The beneficiary is at liberty to go to any empanelled centre of his choice for getting the prescribed tests done without any prior permission from Department / CGHS Wellness Centre provided the tests are as per CGHS approved list and for which a CGHS approved rate is available. The list of empanelled hospitals / eye clinics are available at the CGHS website http://msotransparent.nic.in .

Eye Specialist do advise for Fundus Photo Tests. However, since these particular tests are not included in the existing approved list of CGHS, pensioners are required to obtain prior permission from the Competent Authority as per the financial powers to undergo these tests at empanelled private hospital / eye clinic. They are also entitled facility at the empanelled centres on the basis of permission letter issued by CMO- In charge of CGHS Wellness Centre.

Fundus Photo tests have been included in revised list of CGHS treatment procedures prepared for the next empanelment process.

]]> Treatment from CGHS Empanelled Hospitals

The below information was given by the Minister of Health and Family Welfare Shri.Ghulam Nabi Azad in Parliament on 15th March, 2013.

“The private hospitals under CGHS are primarily empanelled for providing inpatient medical treatment to a CGHS beneficiary. However, CGHS allows follow-up treatment from these hospitals in Post-Operative cases in six major categories namely, Cardio-Vascular Disease, Renal Disease, Neurological Disease, Joint Replacement, Accident cases and Cancer Disease.

Accordingly, the medicines prescribed by the treating specialists of the private empanelled hospital are issued directly from the dispensary. In other post operative cases, medicines are issued upto one month to a patient as per the advice on discharge.

In addition, there is also a provision for issue of Chemotherapy drugs to patients undergoing treatment at empanelled hospitals. The above system is working properly”.

OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Sub: Continuation of empanelment of private hospitals, diagnostic laboratories and imaging centres under CGHS and revalidation of CGHS package rates – regarding.
The undersigned is directed to refer to the various office memoranda issued by this office from time to time vide which private hospitals, diagnostic laboratories and imaging centres were empanelled under CGHS in Delhi & NCR and other CGHS covered cities from 7th October 2010 onwards which would be completing empanelment period of ‘2’ years before 31st March 2013 and to state that it has been decided to extend the validity of empanelment of such empanelled hospitals, diagnostic laboratones and imaging centers on the same terms and conditions under which they were empanelled, till 31st March 2013 or till next empanelment, whichever is earlier.
2. Similarly, the CGHS rates notified in 2010-11 in Delhi & NCR and other cities are also revalidated till further revision of the rates.
3. The private hospitals, diagnostic laboratories and imaging centres, which are not interested to continue their empanelment under CGHS shall have to submit letters seeking withdrawal of empanelment on or before 31st October 2012, failing which it shall be construed that they intend to continue their empanelment under CGHS as per the terms and conditions of MOA signed with CGHS by them. The private hospitals, diagnostic laboratories and imaging centres are also required to submit revalidated Performance Bank Guarantee (in case they expire prior to 31st March, 2013.)
4. The hospitals shall however complete the treatment as per the same terms and conditions in respect of CGHS beneficiaries, who were already admitted prior to issue of this O.M.
6. These Orders shall be effective from the date of its issue.

Centre for Sight is an empanelled private hospital under Central government Health Scheme (CGHS) for different eye procedures and as per terms and conditions of empanelment and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed with CGHS, it is expected to charge as per the CGHS approved rates from CGHS beneficiaries.

The CGHS rates to be charged by empanelled eye centres is placed at Annexure.
