OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Extension of empanelment of AYUSH Hospitals/ Centers under CGHS and CS (MA) Rules till 31st July, 2023.

With reference to the subject cited above attention is drawn to the Office Memorandum vide F.No.25-2/2018/CGHS/JD AYUSH dated 05.01.2021 and 05.04.2021 vide which Empanelment of the following AYUSH Hospitals was extended as per the revised CGHS rates and terms & conditions as contained in the O.M. vide F.No. 5-110011/90/ 2016-CGHS (HEC)/ AYUSH/Pt.-I dated 9th November, 2017.

CGHS Rate List for Ayurvedic Treatment under CGHS Empanelled Hospitals

Now, as requested by the hospitals’ centres, the matter has been reviewed and it has been decided to accord extension to these following Hospitals/ Centres till 31st July 2023.

The Hospitals/Centres are requested to extend the validity of the PBG till 6 months after the validity of empanelment.

Subject: Extension of Empanelment of AYUSH Hospitals/Centers under CGHS and CS (MA) Rules for Ayurveda, Unani and yoga & Naturopathy treatments/Procedures till 15.12.2017.

Reference is invited to the O.M. dated 24.07.2017 by which empanelment of Ayush hospitals under CGHS was extended till 31.10.2017.In furtherance to that O.M. undersigned is directed to state that all existing empanelled gush hospitals under CGHS would further remain empanelled till 15.12.2017 on same terms and conditions on which they were empanelled vide O.M. dated 01.10.2015.

This issues with the approval of AS DO (CGHS).

Administrative Functioning of Cghs Unani

Central Government Health Scheme provides the healthcare facilities to its beneficiaries predominantly in the Allopathic system of medicine as per their demand. AYUSH system of medicine is a very small component under CGHS. The Unani system is an even smaller component of AYUSH. There are 10 small units of Unani system consisting of one or two Unani doctors and pharmacists attached to main CGHS Wellness Centres in Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

Keeping in view the size and strength of Unani component, it is not considered feasible and financially viable to create separate administrative set up for different systems of medicine. Since the infrastructural facilities of Wellness Centre are common for all systems, the administrative control of Wellness Centre is vested in the CMO In-charge. The Unani doctors enjoy professional freedom in exercise of their duties as doctors. However, they are under the overall administrative control of the Additional Director (CGHS) of the city concerned.

This was stated by Shri. Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Heath and Family Welfare, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha today.
