<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong>Press Release Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) &#8211; March, 2020</strong></p>



<p>The All-India CPI-IW for March, 2020 decreased by two points and stood at 326 (three hundred and twenty six). On 1-month percentage change, it went down by (-) 0.61 per cent between January and February, 2020 compared to (+) 0.65 per cent increase between corresponding months of previous year.</p>

<p>The maximum downward pressure to the change in current index came from Food group contributing (-) 1.28 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Onion, Garlic, Poultry Chicken, Eggs-Hen, Brinjal, Cabbage, Carrot, Drum Stick, French Bean, Potato, Tomato, Petrol, Flowers/Flower Garlands, etc. are responsible for the decrease in index. However, this decrease was checked by Wheat, Grinding Charges, Moong Dal, Goat Meat, Fish Fresh, Milk-Buffalo, Pure Ghee, Tamarind, Gourd, Parval, Apple, Coconut, HOt Drink-Tea (Readymade), Cooking Gas, etc., putting upward pressure on the index.</p>



<p>Year-on-year inflation based on tall-items stood at 5.50 per cent for March, 2020 as compared to 6.84 per cent for the previous month and 7.67 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, Food inflation stood at 6.67 per cent against 8.33 per cent of the previous month and 3.96 per cent during the corresponding month an year ago.</p>

<p>At centre level, Tiruchirapally, Vishakhapathnam and Salem recorded the maximum decrease of 8 points each followed by Mysore (7 points) and Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Madurai (6 points each). Among others, 5 points decrease was observed in 5 centres, 4 points in another 5 centres, 3 points in 6 centres, 2 points in 11 centres and 1 point in 10 centres. On the contrary, Rajkot, Lucknow and Kodarma recorded a maximum increase of 5 points each followed by Goa (4 points). Among others, 3 points increase was observed in 3 centres, 2 points in another 3 centres and 1 point in 5 centres. Rest of 19 centres’ indices remained stationary.</p>



<p>The indices of 33 centres are above All-India Index and 45 centres’ indices are below national average.</p>



<p>The next issue of CPI-IW for the month of April, 2020 will be released on Friday 29th May, 2020. The same will also be available on the office website <a href="http://www.labourbureaunew.gov.in/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">www.labourbureaunew.gov.in</a>.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) &#8211; February, 2020</strong></p>



<p>The All–India CPI-IW for February, 2020 decreased by two points and stood at 328 (three hundred and twenty eight). On 1-month percentage change, it went down by (-) 0.61 per cent between January,2020 and February, 2020 whereas no change was observed between corresponding months of previous year.</p>



<p>The maximum downward pressure to the change in current index came from Food group contributing (-) 2.67 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Arhar Dal, Eggs-Hen, Fish Fresh, Poultry Chicken, Onion, Brinjal, Cabbage, Carrot, Cauliflower, Cucumber, French Bean, Gourd, Palak, Peas, Potato, Radish, Tomato, Petrol, Toilet Soap, etc. are responsible for the decrease in index. However, this decrease was checked by Rice, Wheat Atta, Goundnut Oil, Goat Meat, Milk-Buffalo, Cooking Gas, etc., putting upward pressure on the index.</p>



<p>Year-on-year inflation based on all-items stood at 6.84 per cent for February, 2020 as compared to 7.49 per cent for the previous month and 6.97 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, Food inflation stood at 8.33 per cent against 10.61 per cent of the previous month and 2.63 per cent during the corresponding month an year ago.</p>



<p>At centre level, Munger-Jamalpur recorded the maximum decrease of 8 points followed by Giridih (7 points) and Tiruchirapally, Tripura and Surat (6 points each). Among others, 5 points decrease was observed in 11 centres, 4 points in 5 centres, 3 points in 18 centres, 2 points in 21 centres and 1 point in 12 centres. On the contrary, Bhavnagar recorded a maximum increase of 4 points. Rest of 5 centres indices remained stationary.</p>



<p>The indices of 34 centres are above All-India Index and 44 centres’ indices are below national average.</p>



<p>The next issue of CPI-IW for the month of March, 2020 will be released on Thursday 30th April, 2020. The same will also be available on the office website www. labourbureaunew.gov. in.</p>

<p>Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) &#8211; January, 2020</p>



<p>The All-India CPI-IW for January, 2020 (<strong><a href="https://centralgovernmentnews.com/category/aicpn/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label=" (opens in a new tab)">AICPIN</a></strong>) remained stationary at 330 (three hundred and thirty). On 1-month percentage change, it showed no change between December, 2019 and January, 2020 when compared with the increase of (+) 1.99 per cent between December, 2018 and January, 2019.</p>



<p>The maximum upward pressure to the change in current index came from Housing group contributing (+) 2.38 percentage points to the total change which was offset by Food group with a negative contribution of 2.15 percentage points to total change. At item level, Rice, Wheat &amp; Wheat Atta, Groundnut Oil, Mustard Oil, Vanaspati Ghee, Fish Fresh, Goat Meat, Dairy Milk, Fresh Milk, Milk Buffalo, Chillies Dry, Coconut, Cooking Gas, Fire Wood, etc. are responsible for the increase in index. However, this was offset by Onion, Arhar Dal, Brinjal, Cabbage, Carrot, Cauliflower, French Bean, Gourd, Green Coriander leaves, Lady Finger, Palak, Peas, Radish, Tomato, Toilet Soap, etc., putting downward pressure on the index.</p>

<p>Year-on-year inflation based on all-items stood at 7.49 per cent for January, 2020 as compared to 9.63 per cent for the previous month and 6.60 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, Food inflation stood at 10.61 per cent against 12.22 per cent of the previous month and 0.97 per cent during the corresponding month an year ago.</p>



<p>At centre level, Haldia recorded the maximum increase of 34 points followed by Srinagar and Tiruchirapally (9 points each). Among others, 5 points increase was observed in 2 centres, 4 points in 4 centres, 3 points in 7 centres, 2 points in 2 centres and 1 point in 5 centres. On the contrary, Rourkela and Kolkata recorded a maximum decrease of 7 points each followed by Mercara with 6 points fall. Among others, 5 points fall was observed in 2 centres, 4 points in 8 centres, 3 points in 12 centres, 2 points in another 12 centres and 1 point in 6 centres. Rest of 12 centres’ indices remained stationary.</p>



<p>The indices of 35 centres are above All-India Index and 43 centres’ indices are below national average.</p>



<p>The next issue of CPI-IW for the month of February, 2020 will be released on Tuesday 31st March, 2020. The same will also be available on the office website www.labourbureaunew.gov.in.</p>
