For the Onam celebration, the Kerala government announced a bonus of Rs.4,000 for government employees.
Kerala State Finance Minister K N Balagopal said in a statement that employees who are not eligible for the bonus will be granted a special festival allowance of Rs.2,750.
Employees can also take advantage of an Onam advance of Rs 15,000, which must be repaid in five equal instalments.
According to the statement, all part-time and contingent employees are eligible for an Rs.5,000 advance. It stated that service pensioners and those who retired under the participatory pension programme would be paid an Rs.1,000 stipend. Despite the COVID-19 issue, the government is providing the benefit to nearly 13 lakh employees, according to the report.
